Seniors in Cherokee County looking to continue their education after high school may not realize there are many sources available to help pay for those expenses.
Cherokee County Schools, Cherokee Scout, Rotary Club of Murphy and WKRK wanted to work together to make finding scholarships a bit easier this year.
Below is a list of scholarships currently available. Students should see their Guidance Counselors for more information. Be advised, many deadlines are quickly approaching.

- Charles Edward Cathey Masonic Scholarship
- ELIGIBILITY: Eligible if attending a NC HS, graduating with a minimum GPA of 3.0 & commit with consideration scholastic achievement, participation in extracurricular activity, involvement in the community and personal recommendations.
- REWARD: $1,000

- ELIGIBILITY: Bobby Chapman Scholarship Committee allows each school to submit 2 seniors for consideration.
- REWARD: $1,500

- Carolinas Food Industry Council + NC Retail Merchants Association Scholarships
- ELIGIBILITY: Have you worked at Ingles, Walmart, or another NC grocer/retailer for at least the last 6 months? Or has a parent/guardian worked there for at least a year? Then you are eligible to apply for these two $2500 scholarships! They are basically the same application but offered by two different organizations, so if you are eligible you should apply for both. CFIC offers the Everett & Trudy Suddreth Scholarship of Excellence Award, and NCRMA offers its own. This is some great money and meant for a very specific crowd, so don't miss out if you are eligible! - ELIGIBILITY: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cherokee County is proud to announce the availability of our 2020-21 BBBS Scholarship. This privately funded scholarship will reward several local students who are actively involved in mentoring and service of a Little Sister or Little Brother and have shown success in his or her academic endeavors. The Scholarship will be for $500 to a deserving high school BIG in recognition of their achievement and their commitment to BBBS. Applicants must have been an active mentor for BBBS, providing consistent support and service to a Little Brother or Little Sister for a minimum of one year. Length and consistency of match will be an integral part of the selection process. Students should see a guidance counselor to apply.
