Downtown search warrant nets sizable amount of drugs

The following press release has been issued by Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.  All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

Murphy, NC— On June 7, 2018 the Cherokee County Sheriffs Office Narcotics Unit in conjunction with the Zell Miller Mountain Parkway Drug Task Force developed information that led to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and the Murphy Police Department executing a search warrant at the residence of Stephen Louis Weston located at 43A Tennessee Street.

As a result over 4 ounces of Cocaine, approximately 21 grams of Methamphetamine, 5 ounces of Marijuana, Diazepam, and MDMA (Ecstacy) pills were seized. Weston is incarcerated in Georgia on narcotic related charges. Charges in North Carolina include Trafficking in Cocaine, PWISD Methamphetamine, PWISD Marijuana, Maintaining a Dwelling to Keep Controlled Substances, Possession of MDMA and Diazepam and Possession of drug paraphernalia are anticipated at a later date.

Sheriff Derrick Palmer stated “We appreciate the useful information from the Georgia Task Force that enabled us to get a good sized amount of drugs off the street.”
